Another week has (quickly) passed and we are now in August. Wow.
How did that happen?
I know, I know ...the same way the entire year is flying by. It almost makes me want to be a child again to experience those long, lazy days of summer.
In my life this week...
I have been ridiculously busy going to planning meetings, enjoying and working fun church events, and doing life in general. Our home has been sadly neglected lately, although I did manage to run the vacuum this week. There is still that pesky layer of dust on everything though that I need to address, but I've been too busy trying to find clean clothes to wear to take time for that.
In our homeschool this week...
We are still on our summer break. I know lots of fellow homeschoolers are (or already have) starting back very soon. However, our first day of school is almost always the day after Labor Day. Only once in our five years of homeschooling have we started before Labor Day. It just works well for us to wait until September. So we officially have 30 days before we start back-to-homeschool.
I am definitely in planning mode though and next week you will begin to see lots more posts reflecting that. I've been working on reorganizing our learning room, purging some old school books, etc.
My favorite thing this week...
I went to my first paint-your-own canvas party this week. It.Was.So.Much.Fun!!!!!! You can read more about that here, but I just had to share another photo of if with you--I just love how it turned out! I am still deciding where to hang it, but the colors work very well in our home.

My kiddos favorite thing this week...
The Princess and Mr. B had TONS of fun this week at our church's neighborhood outreach, Wet & Wild Wednesday. And it was just that: a couple of inflatable water slides, some wet sponge wars, and free hot dogs and lemonade for all. A great way to cool off and enjoy the summer for everyone! We had an awesome turn out from our neighborhood and we were thrilled about that.
Things I'm working on...
I still have all of the supplies sitting out to start my children's school years scrapbooks. And I have still not touched it. There just has been no time. I am determined to get started on that this month though.
I'm cooking...
There hasn't been much cooking happening at our house lately--so much eating on the go:( I did make Philly Cheesesteak Sloppy Joes this week though and they always get rave reviews!
I'm reading...
I just finished up The Five Love Languages of Children this week (finally!!). Now I'm working to finish Unglued, Boundaries for Leaders, Desperate, For the Children's Sake, and The Great Gatsby. I can't believe how many books I have started--usually I only have a couple that I'm reading at once. This summer I've gotten out of control...ha I still have a couple of others on my summer reading list that I haven't gotten to yet.
And that about wraps up our week.
What's been going on with you this week? Are your kiddos starting back to school? Are you off on vacation? I'd love to hear about it~leave me a comment below!
