This past weekend my wonderful friend Donna came for a visit. We met 19 years ago at college in Springfield, MO. She now lives in Virginia and we hadn't seen each other in about 7 years. We had a great time together~she's a kindred spirit! This was the first time that she'd met my kiddos and they hit it off extremely well. Donna took home quite the collection of specially drawn and colored pictures (my children's current love language)!
We had fun doing some of the *touristy* things around town and just hanging out. Mostly we talked~it's what we do best:) This was also Donna's first visit to The South during the summer...she thought she was going to melt in our wicked heat! Bless her heart!

And look what she brought with her:
Books, books and more books...and a bag of delicious coffee!! She actually brought for the kiddos' library the set of the Pollyanna books and the Five Little Peppers series (all vintage, I might add!). Plus there were quite a few more books just for me. Only an amazing friend would bring an extra suitcase JUST FOR BOOKS! Thank you again, Donna! And now....
A funny story from the weekend (one of many) :
I took Donna to one of my fave spots in Van Buren~a little shop called *Coffee & A Good Book*. It's a really great used book store with a few antiques thrown in. A wonderful place to browse~I especially love their children's book section and their cookbook section. So, I was looking at the cookbooks this past weekend and picked up a particular one that I've always wanted. When I opened the front cover, it had a very familiar handwritten inscription that said "Happy cooking in your new life together!" Vince and Lora (with the date). Yep, you guessed it: it was a cookbook that I'd obviously given a newlywed couple. One who doesn't like to cook apparently. I must say, I laughed and laughed! And I bought it~for the 2nd time!! And one of these days I'm going to remember who it was that got married on that particular day:)

Hilarious about the cookbook!
Oh wait. I guess it's MSU now. (Yeah, whatever - it'll always be SMS to me.)
Or BBC, or CBC, or... :D
