Know & Tell Friday

Once again Kayren at Everything's Coming Up Daisies is the stand-in hostess of Know & Tell Friday. Kayren has been doing a great job of asking us fun questions these past few weeks. Today the theme is home decor--fun!! 0. A comment for Heather : We miss you!! 1. Do you have fake plants in your house? Do you like them? I admit it, I have some fake plants. I have some real ones, too, though if that makes you think more highly of me. I do actually like my fake ones (except that they get dusty), I made all of the arrangements myself except the ficus tree (which is probably my least favorite--I used to have a gorgeous real ficus, but hubby killed it--oops!). I don't, however, do fake flowers, just greenery. You can see some of them here . 2. What is the oldest piece of furniture you have that is not an antique? Describe it. Hmmm ...probably our dinette set. It belonged to my parents back in the 80's and we inherited it when we got married and they got a newer, bigge...

Know & Tell Friday

Today Kayren is once again hosting K & T. Today is the *Entertainment* edition: 1. If you could meet one famous actor, who would it be and why? Cary Grant, just to hear him talk in that smooth voice and hear those great thoughts delivered deadpan. 2. What one question would you ask him? Whether or not he enjoyed being such an icon. 3. If you could meet one famous actress, who would it be and why? Audrey Hepburn because she was captivating with her grace and also her quirkiness. 4. What one question would you ask her? To tell me about her life. 5. What is your all-time favorite comedy movie and why? Probably The Princess Bride because it's just a classic and I could almost quote all the lines. 6. What is your favorite all-time tv show and why? For a sit-com I have to go with Seinfeld, although The Office is running a close second. For a drama, Alias was pretty awesome. I miss it. Currently though Lost is my fave. 7. What is your all-time favorite action or drama movi...

a little birdie tagged me

I've been tagged by Steviewren at A Little Birdie Told Me So to tell 6 unspectacular quirks about myself. Hmmm...I've been thinking about what to say.....these are random, folks! I always have to tear out any inserts in a magazine before I can relax and read it--they really bother me Even if I'm sweating I have to have some form of cover on when I'm in bed, it makes me feel *protected*. I drive my hubby crazy when I bounce, shake, tap (whatever you want to call it) my foot when I'm sitting. I refuse to skip to the back of a book and read the last page to find out how it ends I love to take notes: on a sermon, lesson, lecture... I love to address envelopes, especially the ones for my Christmas cards OK, now that you're dazzled by that strange and boring list, you can read even more strange facts about me here and here . Or not. Feel free either way. If you really like to read about people's quirks, head over to Kicking it in Crazyville today!

Know & Tell Friday: Sports Edition

Here we go....Today Kayren at Everything's Coming Up Daisies is hosting. So sorry to hear that Reese is not feeling well and Heather has tons going on (I hear ya, sister!!), but "thanks" to Kayren for keeping the fun alive today! 1. Do you live for the start of college football? professional football? Does anyone in your house? Do you know anyone who does? Well, I wouldn't say that I live for it like some people do, but I do enjoy football. I used to keep up with the NFL and loved it. I haven't really kept up in years, since my hubby didn't, but he seems to be getting more interested so that will be fun again. Probably the biggest college football fans I know are my husband's family. 2. Did you go to college? If so, what was your mascot? Was/Is that your favorite team? If not, what was/is your favorite college team? I went to college at Evangel University in Springfield, MO, and they were the Crusaders. The games were always fun! My favorite col...

Know & Tell Friday

Here's the Back-to-School edition of Know & Tell. It's my first year going back-to-school in many years. And we're not doing it the traditional way: I'm starting to home school my daughter for kindergarten this year. We officially start next week. I'm excited and nervous about it! 1. How far in advance do you start getting ready for back-to-school (whether for your own kids, or for yourself when you were in school)? Well, this is the first year for me to a have school-age child and I'm homeschooling, so it seems like I've been preparing for a while now. As for when I was in school, I probably spent the month before school getting my supplies, clothes, etc. ready. I've always been a planner! 2. Do you have any picky eaters who need special considerations for lunches? What does a typical bagged lunch look like in your house? Well, I won't have to pack lunches, but my daughter usually eats things like sandwiches, spaghetti- os , cherry tomatoes,...

Know & Tell Friday--the OCD edition (a little late)

OK, so I'm a little late with this one, I was distracted with other stuff yesterday and forgot. However, when I saw the subject matter, I had to laugh--and I had to participate! 1. Do you put the toilet paper on coming over the top or underneath, or does it matter? If someone puts it on wrong do you have to fix it? Yes, it HAS to be over the top (the RIGHT way) and, yes, I always stop to fix it. Sometimes my hubby puts it on upside down just to drive me crazy:) 2. Do you wear shoes in the house? Sure, but this is because I have foot issues. I don't like my feet exposed and I really don't like you to look at them, because then it makes me nervous and they start sweating-ha! 3. If something falls out of the dryer when you’re folding clothes or putting it in the laundry basket, do you have to rewash it or do you just continue on like nothing happened? Well, I'll admit this is a stretch for me, but I've taken to tossing it back in the dryer, although that's only...

Know & Tell Friday: Random Stuff

Happy Friday!! Here's some fun hosted by Reese & Heather at Kicking it in Crazyville .... 1. Which is worse: speaking to a large crowd or working under an impossible deadline? Definitely speaking to a large crowd--give me an impossible deadline any day over that! 2. Could you work with your best friend? Mmmm ....maybe 3. Do you eat seafood? Definitely! LOVE it!! 4. What is the worst thing you have ever eaten? Maybe this terrible "dessert" in South Africa made from vermicelli --positively disgusting! I have issues with warm, mushy stuff anyway: such as, oatmeal, cream of wheat, etc... 5. Which would make you feel more appreciated by your DH / SO: bringing home flowers, doing a chore without being asked, or asking you on a “date”? I must say, doing a chore without being asked...although I do love flowers. He's great about the date thing though! 6. What is something fun you are going to do today? Finish packing for the beach!!! Woo Hoo !!! 7. What qualities you...

Know & Tell Friday: Travel Edition

Here's some more fun from Reese & Heather over at Kicking it in Crazyville: 1. What is your favorite mode of transportation (flying, train, car, boat, etc.)? Why? Well, I just love travel so I'm flexible with my transportation: I LOVE road trips, there's nothing else quite like them! Air travel is fine with me, too, although it's not really that much fun as an adult. As a child it was much better. I like boats, although I've never been on a really large one (unless a ferry counts). I've never traveled on a train, but its one of my goals to do so. It just seem so glamorous! 2. If you could fly like Superman, jump and swing like Spiderman, swing on vines like Tarzan or fly on an umbrella like Mary Poppins, which would you choose? Definitely with Mary Poppins umbrella. I mean, its so much more civilized and ladylike, right? Plus she has that wonderful bag of tricks! 3. You're driving down the road and you see a small cluster of people, all with...

Know & Tell Friday

Today's the day that I join in some fun with Reese & Heather over at Kicking it in Crazyville : 1. If you are a blogger, what got you started? Have you ever made, or do you hope to make, money blogging? Well, I lurked for a year before starting my blog. I started it 1.)to keep in better touch with far away family and friends and 2.)it just looked like such a fun *community* to join! I'd love to make some money having so much fun, but as of yet that hasn't happened:) 2. Are you a collector of anything? Oh, my....collecting just seems to be in my genes. I started collecting things as a child although my tastes have changed through the years. You can look on my side bar to see a list of things I enjoy collecting. Some of my favorites are: blue & white dishes, the Dickens' Village and vintage Nancy Drew books. 3. Apple juice or orange juice? Either/or, I'm flexible here. 4. What are 3 of your best personality traits? Hmmm....friendly, kind, generous--I asked...

*Know & Tell* Friday

Reese & Heather over at Kicking it in Crazyville have this fun weekend thing going called *Know & Tell* Friday. I've been enjoying reading their posts on this for the past few weeks, and this week I thought I'd finally join in the fun. ~Which is your favorite season? Why? Well, I really do love having all four seasons, it just makes the year so interesting, but if I had to choose one it would be Fall. Maybe it's because my birthday is in the fall or the weather is so lovely or the trees are so beautiful, but I really do LOVE Fall. ~Are you a bikini or one piece gal? Do the same rules apply to your daughter, if you have one? I have not worn a bikini since I was 4 years old--and things will stay that way! I do actually wear a 2-piece, although it wears like a 1-piece. It's a tankini that has a skirt bottom (read: good coverage!) My daughter has 1-pieces and 2-pieces, but this will probably be the last summer for her to wear bikinis--only 1-pieces and tankinis fr...
