It's hard to believe that 2012 is nearly over and we begin a New Year next week! I feel as though this year just started last month--I guess that's a sign of getting older, right?
Not too long ago I blogged about how I am "cleaning off my plate", "trimming the fat" from my schedule, so to speak. That's definitely not something that happens overnight with a simple decision. It's an on-going commitment and also a challenge.
An important part of that commitment is continuing to make time daily to spend with my Lord and Savior. It's a proven fact that starting my day in The Word makes a real difference. Not being much of a morning person, I love to read at bedtime--and don't plan to stop doing that either--but disciplining myself to get up early and begin my day in The Word is worth the effort.
I was excited that my dear friend Nancy from There Is Grace is kicking off the New Year with this awesome challenge! Thirty for 30: from January 2nd through January 31st she is challenging us to join her in spending 30 minutes a day in God's Word. Read all about her challenge here. There will be weekly encouragement posts on Mondays and also a weekly link-up on Thursdays for those of us participating to share what God is speaking to us through His Word.
I am looking forward to getting 2013 off to the right start! Won't you join me?
Grab the button above (just right click and save) and make that commitment to begin the New Year in God's Word.

I am so looking forward to that, too!!
I asked Nancy that very question! She said she is developing some Bible study plans for the future to share on her blog, but this time around simply wants to encourage others to make the time for the Word. So there isn't a specific reading plan this time around. When you link up on Thursdays you can blog about what you've been reading and how God's Word has been speaking to you personally. Nancy will be posting weekly on Mondays about what she is reading as well. If she changes that plan, however, I will definitely pass it along:)
