I realized this morning that I am a couple of weeks behind on my End of the Week Wrap-ups! And what a couple of weeks it has been!
A week ago Thursday I had surgery (a hysterectomy) and am in the recovery process. The surgery was extensive, but it went well and I am slowing healing up. I am surprised at how low my energy level still is even though it's been over a week since the surgery, but I am looking forward to soon having more energy than I've had in a long time.
My family has taken great care of me during this time. My sweet mama has been over nearly every day helping keep up with housework and our friends from our church and homeschool group have been such a blessing bringing us delicious meals.
In the days leading up to surgery I really wanted to spend as much time as possible doing some things with my family that I knew I wouldn't be able to do for a while--such as take a zoo trip with our homeschool group. I'm so glad we got to do that, it was a wonderful day!
It was our first time to the Nashville Zoo, but I know it won't be our last. It's a lovely zoo and we had such a good time! Early fall is such a good time to visit, too, because the weather is perfect and the animals are more active.
And active they were! We really enjoyed the exhibits and even a great show on the local wildlife.
Their newly-opened kangaroo experience was definitely a hit! The whole area was enclosed, but once you were inside of it you were in a free-range kangaroo area where they could simply come up to you for some petting. We were amazed at how soft they are! And cute, of course:)
My kiddos cannot pass up a carousel! And this was a lovely one~not a single animal was the same and they were painted beautifully.
Above is a little grouping of some of our favorite animals from the day. Can't wait to go back and visit them again!
School at home has been a little slow this last week due to my recovery and lack of energy. However, we did progress a little bit each day. I also heavily employed Netflix for some educational fun. We have recently discovered Beakman's World and Drive-Thru History and are loving them!
These past couple of weeks the kids have also spent a lot of time building Lego creations for some challenges in their co-op Lego class. Thankfully they haven't had to miss any co-op classes. My sister and my hubby have been able to alternate taking them. Hopefully I'll be back in the swing of things this coming Friday.
This weekend I'll be working on lesson plans that will get us back into our regular groove this coming week. I'm so thankful for the flexibility of homeschooling!
Happy Weekend to you!
