It has been a lovely week! One of those weeks where most things go the way they are supposed to go and you just really enjoy life. I {heart} those kind of weeks!
In my life this week...
It all started with a wonderful Sunday. We had such a great time of worship at our church. It's incredibly exciting to see what God is doing in our community!
Lunch out with the family is always fun, especially when you find a yummy new restaurant. I was able to finally have that pulled pork bbq sandwich that I was craving.
It has been so refreshing to my soul to have lots of sunshine this week, too. It seems as though spring is finally here. The winter has seemed so long, but the reward of spring is worth the wait, I think.
Lovely warm temps, much-needed outdoor play time for the kiddos, time spent loving on our sweet dog, Holly, our first grill-out on the deck, our first picnic, flying kites, park time with friends, ....yes, we have really enjoyed this week!
In our homeschool this week...
Once again we have completed double the school work! Last week a few of you asked how I was getting by with that--how could the kids not notice that?! Well, they did notice that there was a bit more work, but the fact that I never said "we're doubling our assignments" or "we're doing extra work this week" really helped. We just did it, and didn't talk about the fact that we were doing it. I know, sneaky, right? It's all about perception, isn't it? heehee
The Princess has finished up her final book with Total Language Plus for the year. She is continuing her grammar workbook, handwriting, and reading through a book of her choice: The Wizard of Oz. Mr. B is getting very close to finishing up his grammar book and handwriting book for this year. He is doing great on his reading, too, I am so proud of him for taking such an interest in reading just recently. I think he's finally turned the corner on that one.
They are both on their final Singapore math books for this year and are excited about that. I'm already thinking of math activities they can do over the summer though to keep their skills sharp.
In science we learned about social flying insects this week: bees, wasps, ants, and termites. I am trying to find someone who keeps beehives that will let me bring the children to see them. It has been a very interesting chapter and I would like to add that experience to it if possible. We are also working on science fair projects for our homeschool group's science fair coming up in May.
We are really enjoying the time period in history that we are reading about it. It's early modern times (17th century) and we just love history anyway. I am so glad my children love it since it's my favorite subject! Because we did that unit study last fall about the pilgrims we got behind in our regular history, so I plan to continue that through the summer. I really don't think we'll have any complaints though.
Co-op classes are halfway finished for this last quarter. The kids seem to be enjoying them all. They are taking Manners & Etiquette, Basketball/PE, Country Cultures, and Science Fair.
So because of their hard work we are cruising nicely toward a summer break! And I am even going to give them a couple of days totally off this next week. I had seriously considered not taking a spring break and just adding in some extra, fun activities. And while we are still adding in some extra and fun activities, I just need a couple of days myself--I am feeling very behind on housework and some projects I want to get done around the house. So next week we will take off Monday, go on a field trip on Tuesday, take of Wednesday, go on a field trip on Thursday, and go to co-op on Friday. So, we're still learning, but no book work next week. Needless to say, the kiddos are pretty excited (and so am I!)!
Places we're going & people we're seeing...
We have enjoyed several park days this week. We went on our first picnic on Monday and also had a great time flying kites. You can see more pretty kite pictures here.
We also had fun meeting up with some friends yesterday afternoon at another park. The kiddos were so excited to play with some of their favorite friends since it had been a while since they had a chance to do that. Of course, I really enjoyed getting some mom time with their mom:)
I'm cooking...
I have been cooking much more this week! I think the nice weather has inspired me. I don't cook breakfast much except on the weekends, but on Thursday I woke up to gray clouds and rain and just wanted to make some fresh muffins. French Breakfast Puffs are the easiest muffins in the world, so that's what I made. So yummy!
Well, I mentioned above how I am behind on housework. So this coming week I've got lots of laundry, ironing, clothes closet switching for the season, vacuuming, dusting, and more to do. It's that time of the year, isn't it?
And all of those things start today ...so I'm off to be productive and enjoy the rest of the weekend, too! Have a great weekend yourself!

I would think that would work fine! I ate one of the leftover muffins 2 days later and it was still yummy:)
